Golfing safaris in Queen Elizabeth Wildlife safari park & Murchison falls National park

New developments aimed at building a golf course in Murchison Falls national parks and Queen Elizabeth Wildlife safari park may not take place at the moment until when the committee in charge of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) gives contracts of this project ta go head.
The Madvanai group of companies who is also the director of operations and tourism, Marasa Group of Companies is in charge of operating the golfing safaris at Paraa safari lodge in Murchison falls and at Mweya safari lodge in Queen Elizabet National park.
According to the newly appointed board member of Uganda Wildlife Authority Mr Mani Khan, said though the president of Uganda during the month of November 2010 was in support of the the new idea of introducing golfing in the two park, permision should be got from the EIA to give a go ahead and if all fails others measeures will be taken.
Other environmentalists say that that Khan is in good relationship with the president and he may take advantage of this thus ignoring the EIA. As a newly elected Member of UWA was not happy with this statements since he is just a representative of Uganda Hoteliers and he can not make his own decisions he has to follow rules and guidelines like any other tourism stakeholders in the Uganda tourism industry and service provider.
The Uganda Wildlife committee is in charge of supervising Wildlife management financial integrity maintenance as well as restoring confidence in UWA to boost Uganda’s tourism which so far is the second largest revenue earner of the country with Bwindi impenetrable gorilla safari park as the most visited park for mountain gorilla tracking.
